Path through the glacier crevasse

Top experience

An icy pleasure...
... the new attraction on the Kaunertal glacier is 40 metres long, around 3 metres high and around 1.5 metres wide. Now there is an accessible glacier crevasse! Visitors get an opportunity to admire and feel the glacier ice up close. “There’s just something special about it, maybe even something mysterious” say inspired visitors as they go through the ice tunnel. The ice, which has flowed over the years from its source in Weisseeferner to the accessible tip of the glacier, is at least 100 years old. Information about glaciers: However, it’s not just the tip experience which brings visitors to the feeling of glacier ice. Lots of interesting information and features of glaciers are explained to the visitor on several display boards on the 500 m long path from the glacier restaurant to the tip of the glacier. How are glacier crevasses and glacier ice formed, how many glaciers are there in Austria etc? These and many other questions are answered - on the way to the glacier crevasse, which is free to visit. There are, of course, free tours in summer. You can find out more details at: +43 (5475) 5566 or kaunertal@gletscher.at
