Safety tips for snowshoeing and winter hiking

Stay safe on all the walks

It’s simple: Just as it does in summer, hiking in winter requires some careful preparation. Your chosen route needs to be appropriate for your level of ability, but that’s not the only thing you need to consider. When planning your walk, pay particular attention to the low temperatures and early sundown. This means you should pack a Thermos flask of hot tea along with appropriate clothing and equipment for the wintry weather conditions.

Hot tip: Don’t stray from the secure winter hiking trails and find out about the current avalanche situation before you go!
